Capture Chrome, PowerPoint, Word, or let OpenSS auto-detect the active application. The capture pipeline runs on your Mac and nothing is sent for AI help until you choose to submit it.

OpenSS uses the native macOS Vision framework to extract text from screenshots. No cloud OCR service is required. Extracted text becomes context only when you ask OpenSS to help with it.

Desktop voice input uses Apple audio capture and on-device speech recognition. Raw audio stays local. Only the resulting transcript is sent when you submit it through a hosted model.

Every account starts with OpenSS-hosted AI. Free includes Mini. Pro unlocks Mini, Luna, Terra, and Sol without requiring desktop API-key setup.

Mini handles everyday requests. Luna, Terra, and Sol increase reasoning capability for technical work, coding help, and heavier analysis. The backend stays authoritative for entitlements and usage.

Pro users can save up to 4,000 characters of chat-scoped context. It is stored with that conversation and attached to future messages and screenshot captures without appearing as a normal timeline message.

Pro users can pair a phone on the same Wi-Fi network and trigger a desktop capture remotely. OpenSS accepts up to two connected devices and sends only the requested capture for analysis—not a continuous screen stream.

Free includes 200 AI units each billing month. Pro includes 500 weighted AI units. Additional AI credits are separate from plan access and are used after included allowance is exhausted.

Audio and OCR begin locally. When you submit hosted screenshot analysis, the instruction, captured image, supporting OCR, and any saved chat context are sent only for that request.

Chat sessions are stored in a local SQLite database on your Mac. Reopen old threads, search through past answers, or delete anything permanently without relying on a remote history store.

The openss command gives you capture, chat, key management, and diagnostics directly from Terminal. Optional provider keys remain available there for advanced users who want a CLI BYOK path.

Launch a browser-based UI bound strictly to 127.0.0.1 from the CLI. It shares the same local capture and history services and is separate from the public openss.xyz account website.
