Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using OpenSS (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Southbytelabs LTD (“OpenSS”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

2. Description of Service

OpenSS is a native macOS desktop application that functions as an AI-powered teleprompter and meeting assistant. It captures content from selected application windows using macOS APIs, processes that content using AI language models, and displays contextual responses in a floating overlay window. OpenSS includes optional screen-sharing protection features that exclude the application window from external screen capture.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use OpenSS. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide during registration is accurate and complete.

4. Subscription Plans & Billing

  • Free Plan: Includes 200 OpenSS-hosted AI units per billing month and access to the Mini hosted model. It does not include Pro-only hosted tiers or advanced desktop features.
  • Pro Plan ($15/month): Includes 500 OpenSS-hosted weighted AI units per billing month, access to Mini, Luna, Terra, and Sol, and Pro features. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.
  • Purchased AI credits: Where offered, credits buy additional hosted AI usage after your included allowance. They do not upgrade your account to Pro or change your subscription or entitlements. A failed hosted-AI request does not consume a credit.
  • Cancellation: You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Access continues through the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.
  • Usage Limits: Included allowances reset each UTC calendar month and do not roll over. Purchased credits, where offered, are displayed separately. All hosted AI use remains subject to reasonable anti-abuse, concurrency, and safety limits.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use OpenSS only for lawful purposes. You may not use OpenSS to:

  • Deceive, defraud, or mislead any person or entity, including in any professional evaluation or assessment where the use of AI assistance is explicitly prohibited
  • Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
  • Harass, threaten, or harm any individual
  • Infringe the intellectual property rights of others
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the application
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service
  • Circumvent or interfere with security or access controls

Important notice regarding professional examinations: It is your sole responsibility to comply with the rules and policies of any examination, interview, or professional assessment you participate in. OpenSS does not endorse or encourage use in contexts where AI assistance is prohibited. Any consequences resulting from such use are your responsibility alone.

6. Intellectual Property

OpenSS and all associated software, design, branding, and content are the exclusive property of Southbytelabs LTD. The software is proprietary and closed source. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the application solely for your personal or internal business use.

You retain full ownership of any content you create using the Service. We claim no rights to the text you capture or the responses you receive.

7. Privacy & Data

Your use of OpenSS is subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Third-Party AI Providers

OpenSS integrates with third-party AI services including OpenAI and Anthropic. When using these services, you are also subject to their respective terms of service and usage policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party AI responses.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

OpenSS is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific requirements.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpenSS and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the three months prior to the claim.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to OpenSS at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of OpenSS after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and if unresolved, through binding arbitration.
