Install the desktop app

Use the custom DMG, replace older versions and handle first launch safely.

Requirements

  • An Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3, M4 or later).
  • A supported macOS version with Screen Recording permission for capture.
  • Network access for sign-in and OpenSS-hosted AI.

Install from DMG

  1. 1
    Mount

    Open the downloaded OpenSS DMG.

  2. 2
    Drag

    Drag the real OpenSS app icon onto the Applications folder alias.

  3. 3
    Eject

    Eject the OpenSS volume after copying completes.

  4. 4
    Open

    Launch /Applications/OpenSS.app.

Upgrade an existing installation

Drag the newer app to Applications and choose Replace when Finder asks. OpenSS checks the bundled engine version at startup and replaces an incompatible stale engine before enabling chat and capture.
